Pokemon GO Community Day August LATEST NEWS: Will these Gen 3 Pokemon headline next event?

POKEMON Go developer Niantic is getting ready to launch the next Community Day event, just days after Larvitar took a starring role. And it's possible that Squirtle may be the next headline Pokemon.

The Pokemon GO Community Day is a massive event in the mobile game's monthly calendar, and although the previous Community Day might have only just finished with the July event involving Squirtle, the next update for the game is, in theory, right around the corner.

Developer Niantic usually announces their plans for the next Pokemon Community Day just a few days after the conclusion of the last Community Day.

Unlike the past two Community Day's we don't know when next month’s celebrations will be held, or equally, what Pokemon will headline the next event.

As we mentioned though, it shouldn't be long before we find out more, as normally Niantic announced their plans for the next month just a few short days after the conclusion of a Community Day.

We've had seven events so far, and in the vast majority of cases, Niantic has announced the new plans for the next community day two to three days after the conclusion of an event.

So it's possible we could learn which pokemon will be fronting the August Community Day as early as today, Monday 9th July, but more likely tomorrow, Tuesday, 10th July.

As for which Pokemon could be the new star of the show for the Community Day, well, that's where things get really interesting...
